Jay Gold, Running Back, Toms River North

Gold followed up a stellar junior year to lead all rushers in the Shore Conference with 1,669 yards and 21 touchdowns.  Running behind a mammoth offensive line led by Mike Clancy and Mark Segaloff, as well as bruising fullback Jamie Miller, Gold led the Mariners to the South Jersey Group 4 playoffs and finished as Toms River North's all-time leading rusher.  The 5-11, 200 pound back was equally adept at running defenders over as he was at running around them.  Also doubling as defensive end for the Mariners, Gold also made the Asbury Park Press 1st Team All-Shore squad and was named 3rd Team All-State by the Associated Press.
